Living with ME/CFS

Having ME/CFS can be extremely isolating, due to lack of understanding by family, friends, employers, social and medical services.

There is no cure and no simple simple treatment. However there is hope as up to 20% of people with ME/CFS go on to make a complete recovery within 2 years, with the benefit of early diagnosis.

Sadly 60% never recover pervious levels of health and fitness, but with time and sensible management can experience a gradual improvement. 20% remain at the same level of disability or deteriorate.

Yet there are many treatments which can make a huge difference to quality of life for people with ME/CFS.

Balancing use of energy and rest ( pacing ) is found by most sufferers to be useful, as over-doing things only leads to relapses. You need to listen to your body, not fight it.

People with ME/CFS can be considerably helped by:

  • getting practical help
  • reprioritising
  • addressing chronic low-grade infection
  • treating gut symptoms
  • supplements
  • allergy treatments
  • dietary changes
