How ESA is assesssed

ESA looks at how your health condition or disability affects your ability to carry out a list of 18 activities. 

Part 1: Physical

  • Moving around

  • Standing and sitting

  • Reaching

  • Picking up and moving an object

  • Manual dexterity

  • Communicating

  • Understanding

  • Getting around safely

  • Controlling bowels and bladder

  • Maintaining consciousness when awake

Part 2: Mental and cognitive

​

  • Learning tasks

  • Hazard awareness

  • Starting and finishing tasks

  • Coping with change

  • Getting about

  • Coping with social engagement

  • Behaving appropriately

Part 3: Eating and drinking
