We're hiring a communications officer. Apply now!

At Sheffield ME & Fibromyalgia Group we pride ourselves on creating community, providing a hub for information and support, and empowering users of our services to build knowledge and experience whilst living with these chronic illnesses.

We're looking for a vibrant addition to our staff team. Could you juggle keeping our city centre office running smoothly while developing our community through excellent communication and reaching out to new members?

You would work alongside volunteers and Trustees to take the group forward in its aims to

build a self-help community and support the drive for better understanding, less stigma,

more research and improved services for people with ME and fibromyalgia.

This post is designed to support the group’s functioning and enable people of different ages and backgrounds affected by ME and Fibromyalgia to meet together and promote awareness more widely. Key responsibilities are running the office including simple book-keeping and the members database, designing excellent information materials using a variety of media, providing access to a range of quality information, organising events, liaising with other agencies, running awareness stands, maximising the impact of the group’s online presence, creating vibrant materials about the group and its activities and being a focus for information queries. The group aims to maximise the potential of volunteers to be a part of the above activities and take forward new projects working with the post-holder.

Applications are sought from those with experience of office management, organising activities and events, excellent communication skills, excellent IT and information processing skills, and a willingness to learn. The successful candidate will understand some of the issues facing those with severe chronic illness and will believe in supporting those marginalised by illness to have a voice.

Together we can create meaningful change for people with ME and fibromyalgia.
