A review of our achievements over the year and during spring 2026

This is our opportunity to talk about what we have used the money the charity has received to do.

These are categorised by our strategic priorities:

1. Our members make more informed life choices by accessing quality information about their illness and support available

2. The economic situation of our members is maximised

3. Our members increase their links and active engagement with other sufferers, carers and allies to reduce their social isolation

Re-approval of the Trustees: You are required to (re)approve the Trustees, this includes the current Trustees and some new Trustees, their details will be provided.

Looking forward: We will discuss the appointment of a new CEO, our commitment to recruiting new Trustees and diversifying our income and launching Project Reset, a strategy to refocus on the needs of the members.

Celebrating 25 years as a charity: This is your opportunity to share your thoughts on what we could do to mark the occasion, including using this as a fundraising activity whereby we could consider how to raise a minimum of £25 from each member

Your questions to the Board: This is your opportunity to ask questions to the Board and the staff.

Any Other Business: This provides an opportunity to consider anything that was not on the agenda

Date and time of the next meeting: This will be communicated nearer the time.

Your safety is important to us

As a charity created to support the needs of members with chronic illnesses, that can be exacerbated by Covid, flu or any symptoms of illness (including but not limited to fever, cough, cold, vomiting, diarrhoea), we are taking the following approach at our AGM event:

  • We have borrowed two air purifiers and a CO2 monitor from Breathe Easy Sheffield (https://sheffield.breathe-easy.uk) which will be in the space; we are grateful for their support. We will also open doors and windows if required.

  • This is a mask friendly space, masks will be available for anyone wishing to use one.

  • All SMEFG staff and volunteers will be offered a Lateral Flow Test (LFT) before the event.

  • If you can, please take an LFT on the morning of the event, especially if you may have been exposed to Covid-19 recently. Please note that this is optional. Tests are available at Superdrug, Boots, other high-street pharmacies and online.

  • Please do not attend in person if you or anyone in your household has Covid-19, flu, or any symptoms of illness (e.g., fever, cough, cold, vomiting, diarrhoea). Long-term conditions like hayfever or COPD are excluded, just let us know beforehand. If unsure, email us at info@sheffieldmegroup.co.uk.

For detailed Covid-19 safety guidance, also relevant for preventing other airborne viruses such as flu, visit our website here: https://www.sheffieldmegroup.co.uk/covid-19-safety-information

If you become unwell after attending this event, please let us know as soon as possible. This helps us notify other attendees so they can be more mindful of symptoms, take extra precautions, and avoid unintentionally passing anything on to others.

Please let us know if you have any questions or comments in relation to our approach to maintaining safety practices within our activities, info@sheffieldmegroup.co.uk
