Today, Tuesday 12 May is International ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia Awareness Day. A day where we come together to raise awareness for those living with ME/CFS and fibromyalgia.
ME Awareness Week (11-17 May) is also observed every year in May.
Sheffield ME and Fibromyalgia Group supports people with ME/CFS and fibromyalgia, their families and their carers, in South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire.
We will be active on social media today and the rest of the week sharing stories from our members living with ME/CFS and fibromyalgia, our Wear it Blue for ME campaign alongside sharing other relevant content including activities taking place during the week.
In recognition of International ME Awareness Day, the roof lighting at Meadowhall Shopping Centre, Sheffield will be illuminated in blue. The roof lighting is on a sensor so it will switch on when it’s dusk.

We are deeply grateful to Meadowhall for standing alongside our community. For those living with ME, visibility matters. Seeing such a well-known local landmark lit blue offers a powerful message of inclusion, recognition, and support.
We are also marking today by hosting a hybrid picnic where Pippa Stacey will deliver an uplifting presentation and there will be chances to win signed copies of her book, "How to do life with a chronic illness."

#MEAction UK is Fighting to Protect the Most Severely ill - Join their campaign to lobby your MP today!
As part of #MillionsMissing 2026 they are asking you to get in touch with your MP and ask them to lobby Wes Streeting MP during ME Awareness Week 11-17th May.
