About the weekly activities...

Seated Tai Chi

Sifu Margaret is a fully qualified tai chi teacher who has run a successful seated class for the Chesterfield group for several years. Classes are suitable for all ages and levels of ability. All you need is an upright chair with no arms and a good sized screen so you can see and copy.

Sessions on:

Mondays 2-2.40pm 22/02, 01/03, 08/03, 29/03

 
Mindfulness

Jane Mitchell of MindBodyFeeling, who has run much appreciated mindfulness sessions for our Group in the past, is offering a series of mindfulness sessions introducing practices such as Body Scan and Breathing meditations. We will also take care of our body by engaging in gentle movements, working within our capabilities in that moment on that day as well as introducing some practical daily mindfulness activities.

Sessions on:

Tuesdays 3-4pm 12/01, 19/01, 26/01, 02/02, 09/02, 23/02, 02/03, 09/03, 16/03, 23/03

 
Qigong

This introduction to Qigong brings exercises that are a gentle and invigorating, that will help the body relax, the muscles let go and build strength while opening the lungs and improve their health.

Sessions on:

Wednesdays 3.30-4.30pm 13/01, 20/01, 27/01, 03/02, 10/02, 17/02

 
Nutrition & Cookery

We are in the process of designing this programme and would like input from our members, so please answer this short survey to help us shape it the way you want it!

Singing

Relax, Breathe, Sing.

A weekly opportunity to connect with others and sing - even if we are 'together, apart'. No need to read music as all songs will be taught by ear and you can adapt the level of new learning to suit your mood and energy. There will be songs for many moods and everyone is welcome - no need to think of yourself as 'a singer'.

Fridays 2-3pm 15/01, 22/01, 29/01, 05/02, 12/02, 19/02, 26/02, 05/03, 12/03, 19/03, 26/03

An hour of fun with general knowledge questions and Chris' legendary jokes and humour!

Social get together

Meet a bunch of friendly faces to have a chat about this and that. These are replacing the in-person drop-ins we used to hold across Sheffield.

Pop in for as long as you want, we'll be there!

Parlons français !

Venez parler français avec nous !

We have several members and one French communications officer who would love to gather and speak French from time to time. There will be little games, discussions, short videos... Everything you need to have a good time and practice your French.

Suitable for levels intermediate to advanced.

Sessions on:

First Thursday of the month 5-6pm Starting 04/02

 

Who are these activities for?

These activities are all available for free to our paid members.

If you are a ME, Fibromyalgia or Long Covid sufferer and aren't a member already, you are welcome to purchase membership for £12 a year and access the full range of activities and services we offer.

joining and Registration

If you are a member and wish to attend one or more of these activities, you need to register to activities with the link we provided you via email (post to arrive in January). You only need to register once per activity to get free access to any of the sessions.

The registration system is securing the sessions from external intrusions. You are in a safe space. Also, you do not need to turn your camera on during the activities, and you can even join by phone with the number provided in the registration's confirmation email.

Get reminders

By registering to an activity, you will receive reminders via email on the morning of the activity. Register once, and you'll be reminded for all the sessions of the activity you registered for. The reminder email will include a reminder of the joining details.

If you wish to unsubscribe to an activity, just drop us an email.

Need help with Zoom?

It is easier to join if you have the Zoom app installed on your desktop or phone. If there's any issue, call us! 00114 2536700. If you feel unsure about joining an activity over Zoom, we will be happy to answer any questions you might have and we can even guide you through a private 'trial' meeting so you have a first experience of it.
